My Dog Sleeps… With Me
Today (or rather yesterday) is the day I can finally say that my dog is finally sleeping with me. It was always one of my dreams, to be able to sleep with my dog. I experimented with it before, but it was never done.
Recently, however, my dog has taken to pushing the boundaries. At first, he was not allowed into the master bedroom. Now he is. Before, he wasn’t allowed on the bed. Now he is. And the sofas. And upstairs, as well.
I decided the other day, during a nap (forced by my parents) to let him sleep with me on my bed. I put a blanket over it, and let him climb on.
Maybe it was the fact that he didn’t prefer my bed over my mother’s; maybe it was because he didn’t like me as much (but that’s impossible), but he laid horizontally.
My twin-sized bed wasn’t very large in the first place. Him laying horizontally across the narrow bed just made it even more narrower for me.
I ended up taking the nap in a S-shaped position. My back hurt for the rest of the day.
A week passed. I decided to try again. My dog didn’t sleep horizontally. He slept with his butt facing me. Another silent protest.
The next day was the same.
The day after that, however, both his butt and his face was facing me. He was sleeping in a U-shaped pattern. I took this to be an improvement.
And last night, finally, I can say this: he was sleeping with his face to me, licking my hand the whole night.
Success!
