Batman: The Dark Knight

Lines are usually a predictable affair. One can expect for a line to form in front of a checkout line, in front of a ticketing booth, or in a long line for an amusement ride. But when lines form in unexpected places, people get confused.

For example, if I had come back from school and found a line in front of my house, I would have undoubtedly be very confused. In the same way, I was very confused when there was a long line in front of the theater room reserved for Batman: The Dark Knight. It had just come out that morning, and I wanted to be one of the first to see it.

There was a long line. The tickets that we had bought were for the two o’clock showing, but by the time we had entered the theater, it was already full so they changed us to three o’clock. Bother.

It was a long line. My cousin and I just stood there and chatted about random stuff. Shoes, clothing, and shops were some of our topics, and we soon were attracting a lot of stares.

It was a pity that I hadn’t brought a book to read, but then, I thought, I would probably be reading the same sentence over and over. I would probably be reading the same sentence over and over. I would probably be reading the same sentence over and over.

When we were finally let into the movie theater, I couldn’t wait for the movie to begin. It was another thirty minutes of commercials before it had started.

The movie proved to be exceptionally good. Some parts, my cousin covered my eyes for me, including one part where the evil man in the movie (there is always one, isn’t there) slit open the cheeks of a girl to get her to “smile”. Eeeuuurrghh.

Basically, the movie is about Batman who has to fight this new criminal in the city who does all sorts of crazy things; a typical action movie. It was really funny to see how modern movie making turned a comical Batman that even a mention by a middle-school student would earn them a childish stare into a high-tech type of movie that all people wanted to watch.

I saw many teenagers watching the movie. The part I hated the most was the ending, which I will not reveal.

When the movie ended, I walked home content. That night, the local news channel reported that the average IMAX ticket price for The Dark Knight was $50 dollars on eBay. I regretted not selling my tickets…
