Bugged

Last night, I saw my uncle get bugged.

It all began when I went over to my Uncle Roy’s home. He was playing a game called Neverwinter Night 2 on his computer. It looked so great. He slayed a big ol’ monster, and then everything went black.

Hmm.

He sighed, and then turned off his computer.

Normally when something like this happened to me, I would totally freak out and write down the error number and use up two pieces of paper writing everything down.

He restarted the game, and I asked him why he wasn’t freaking out. He told me it happened all the time.

The computer died on him the exact moment he started the game this time.

He started looking up some information on the Internet. After thirty minutes, he walked away reluctant.

The next morning (he invited me to a sleepover), I woke up, and we went for a little jog outside.

When we got back, he once again tried starting it. It crashed on him.

He instantly made a decision to reinstall Windows and format the hard drive. (Two minutes later, he changed his mind.)

Finally, I found myself looking for a fix. I ran across a tutorial, and eagerly showed him.

We applied the fix, and the computer restarted. We waited, tense.

The game started. We remained tense.

He started walking around, and slayed the monster. We waited for a second to see if it would crash. It didn’t.

We both let out a breath we didn’t know we were holding, and hugged each other.

Just as I told a joke and we slapped hands, we turned. My face turned foul and his did as well. We both looked at each other, and then sighed. Then we laughed.

The computer had crashed again.
