A Letter From Far Off
I finished reading the letter that my teacher in China wrote. Of course, it was originally in Chinese.
The letter was from my homeroom teacher during the time that I was studying in China (about two weeks). She was also the grade-level English teacher, and knew English ver well.
She had just replied to a email I had written to her about two months ago. I was awaiting her reply and wondering why it was taking her so long. In the letter, I found out.
She was a nice lady who originally was learning philosophy. Then she needed to be a school teacher, and therefore learned the topic of English. She had told me once while I was standing and waiting for an endless speech to end, “I like myself. A little bit short,” she had said, moving her hands as if she were shoving a letter into a small cylinder capsule, “and a little bit fat,” waving her hands as if they were clasped in front of her and she were taking them apart.
She always wore a hat to the class too. She took it off when checking the English homework as if her brain would bulge when thinking and destroy the hat. She put it back on before leaving the school.
I liked her very much, just like the other teachers in the school.
And just like her letter, I looked forward to seeing her the next time I will go to China.
