A burgler is a scary thing. I found that out by witnessing a chase for a burgler.
It all happened when I was coming out of an awesome clay-modeling place in China. Having exhausted 8 pieces of clay on the spinning modeler, I finally had made a Chinese water jug-shaped modeling when I was about to give up.
I came out of a store, only to back up. A man on a bicycle zoomed by, obviously going as fast as he could.
Closely following were two yellow-uniformed men that were chasing the man. They stopped in front of me, realizing they couldn’t catch the man on foot. The thief zoomed ahead and turned the corner.
One of the yellow-uniformed men spoke into his walky-talky. The other cursed in words that can’t be repeated.
“Got away, didn’t he? Didn’t pay for the meal, mind you, and stole the bike.”
I felt a rush of sorrow as I imagined how the restaurant had been tricked by this dirty thief.
This, of course, happens everywhere, but I never saw it first-handed before.
